Nat Geo Channel
Killer Lies Series
Promo Graphics
The good dudes at MATTOCK brought me on to take a stab at the motion graphics for this new series promo they were cutting for Nat Geo. I designed a few concepts based on cues from the creative brief, but alas—the client decided to go in a different direction. It was a great experience nonetheless and I thought these turned out pretty cool.
The three-part docu-series is about the rise and fall of French serial killer expert, Stéphane Bourgoin, who had weaved an elaborate, decades-long web of lies about his experiences interviewing notorious serial killers, even including Charles Manson.

BLINDS Concept
These frames express the idea of blinds being opened, exposing the truth in the darkness of his deceit. The psycho papered wall in the background is an allusion to his career as an author and the pages and pages of lies he created.

WEB Concept
With Stéphane Bourgoin's WEB of lies at top-of-mind, these frames explore ways to graphically represent the complex network of threads he was weaving.

MAZE Concept
Another idea from the brand team was some sort of maze treatment that serves as a metaphor for the twisting narrative of Stéphane Bourgoin.
